Wood/Salt Fired Work

This work represents a new direction in high-fired stoneware in that it is thrice-fired.  Initially fired in a heavy reduction gas firing then followed by either a wood or wood/salt firing.  Then finished in a mid-range oxidation (electric) firing to smooth any remaining blemishes or rough edges.

The surfaces of these pieces are a combination of block printing, embossing, etching with shino glazes and ash from the wood firing process.
